Episode #077 - The Blue Jays Bus Trip, Mason Miller’s Case, and Our First Theme Team

The full crew is back in town, which means the chaos level immediately rises by a noticeable amount

We started this one with Eric fresh off the Australian Women’s Championship. He gave us the on-ground vibe, what stood out, and how the women’s baseball scene feels heading into the WPBL’s first year. There was a bit of that early “this league is going to change everything” hype when the news first dropped, and the noise has understandably died down a touch since then, so it was great to get a reality check from someone who’s actually been out there, talking to people, and watching the games. Then we had the very quick moment of self-awareness where three blokes realised we probably shouldn’t turn the episode into a two-hour mansplaining seminar and moved on.

From there it was straight into proper MLB nonsense, including the story of the Blue Jays having to ride the bus from Phoenix to Anaheim after a flight malfunction. Nothing says “big league” like a travel day that turns into a school excursion.

We also spent time on Mason Miller, because what he’s doing right now is absurd. We talked about the big question: if a reliever keeps pitching like this, can he actually get into the Cy Young conversation in a serious way? And while we were there, I gave a bit of love to a closer flying under the radar who’s putting up numbers that deserve to be mentioned in the same breath.

Spoon then delivered a rant that had clearly been building, and we finally debuted our first Theme Team of 2026. We also discovered, mid-episode, that it’s not just a one-off. It’s going to be a series. The idea is elite, the execution was… developing, and I think you’re going to enjoy watching us work it out in real time.

Eric had to leave to pick up his dad from the airport, so Spoon finished with two midweek plays and we got out of there before the Wi-Fi could turn on us again.
