The boys are all back together this week, and Eric opens with a quick recap of what it’s been like having his dad in town for a couple of weeks. Then we get into the real issue.
Rolsey and Spoon have apparently become walking bad luck. The last couple of weeks have felt like every player or team we mention gets hit by the baseball gods about 48 hours later. Eric naturally tries to point the curse directly at the Rays, because he’s a Blue Jays fan and he wants chaos, but we’re not convinced the universe is that cooperative. We do, however, happily take the field against the Yankees in the early AL East conversation because… why not.
Then we went deep on St. Louis, because their start has been one of the more interesting storylines early. The Cardinals are winning games in the middle of what’s meant to be a rebuild, and it raises the obvious question: are they buyers at the deadline if they keep this up? Especially when Chaim Bloom is publicly insisting they’ll stay the course regardless.
To finish, we rolled into Part 2 of our Alphabet Theme Team series. We’re building a roster from the next chunk of letters and trying to beat the 97-win team we created with A through I. It’s weird, it’s nerdy, it’s exactly our sort of fun, and yes, names like Ryan Zeferjahn and Ángel Zerpa are the kind of chaos you’ll see when you start building teams by alphabet.
And right at the end, Spoon drops his tips. He went 2-for-2 on the last Weekend Pickoff, so it’s worth hanging around.
